Aliceann Toole is one of those early Boomers whose parents married as soon as both were in the same place at the same time following the end of WWII. Her mom Helen (from Yonkers, N.Y.) was a lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps and her dad Bill (from Palmetto, Fla.) was a sergeant at the Infantry training school at Fort Benning, Ga. Aliceann was born in Sarasota, Fla. on October 14, a year and a day after their marriage. She is the eldest of six children and a sixth-generation Floridian.
Aliceann was first published in the Rebel Yell student newspaper at Robert E. Lee Junior High School in Orlando, Fla. Subsequently, she has worked in marketing, public relations, publicity, and events development and management. Her expertise includes aeronautics and science; telecom; nonprofit organizations; health care issues; social policy issues; generating high visibility for intangible entities, products and services; digital and social marketing; and crafting innovative and even award-winning public relations and publicity programs.
Aliceann is the mother of Steve, Erin and Katie and the grandmother of Zoe, Van and Jack. She lost her husband of 28 years to colorectal cancer in September 2008 and urges all Boomers to talk to their doctors about screening. She lives and works in northern Virginia and her favorite pastimes are being at the beach, sunbathing (with SPF 45), reading (or reading while sunbathing [with SPF 45] at the beach), live performances (from bluegrass to ballet), collecting Floridiana and traveling.
Aliceann is passionate about maintaining the relevancy of Baby Boomers politically, culturally and economically, but she is thrilled beyond measure to jump on the frivolity bandwagon and write about Boomerlicious lifestyles for BabyBoomers.com.
She would love to hear from you on any Boomerlicious topic at aatoole@rocketmail.com.
