Baby Boomers Take Home Top Golden Globes

The Golden Globes on January 7 kicked off the film industry’s 2018 award season with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association selecting “the best” of film and television productions. Headlining four of the top awards were Baby Boomers Frances McDormand (b. 1957), Gary Oldman (b. 1958), Allison Janney (b. 1959), and Guillermo del Toro (b. 1964).

Frances McDormand won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Baby Boomer Meryl Streep also was nominated in this category.

Gary Oldman won Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for playing Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour. Three of the other four nominees are Baby Boomers: Daniel Day-Lewis, Tom Hanks, and Denzel Washington.

Allison Janney won Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture for I, Tonya, and Guillermo del Toro was chosen as Best Director for The Shape of Water.
