More Americans Playing it Safe With Travel Insurance

Whether you're traveling for the upcoming holidays or planning a big vacation, it's always smart to consider travel insurance. And it seems like more and more people are choosing to play it safe. According to the US Travel Insurance Association, Americans spent close to $3 billion on travel insurance in 2016. That's a 19% increase from 2014.

Natural disasters and growing terrorism are reasons cited for purchasing travel insurance, but demographics play a role in the increase too. Baby boomers, who often have elderly parents or may have a health condition themselves, are choosing to purchase insurance, sometimes for the first time ever, so that they can travel with peace of mind.

The US Travel Insurance Association website has some great resources to help you decide if travel insurance is right for you. You can find answers and advice to questions like:

What is travel insurance?

Why buy travel insurance?

What type of insurance will you need?

What will it cost?
