Sharon Stone Re-Starts Her Career After Personal Triumph
By Cheryl Harbour

It’s hard to believe Sharon Stone will turn 60 on March 10. For many people, she’s locked in time as the sexy psychopath in the movie Basic Instinct. But between that role in 1992 and now, Sharon Stone has done a lot of living – much of it out of the public eye. Now she’s about to re-start her career in a televisions series unlike any other.

For adventurous viewers, her new show Mosiac, directed by Steven Soderbergh, can be accessed as an app, with the murder story told from the perspective of seven different characters. The viewer is able to switch from one to the other at will to customize the story. For more traditional viewers, the show is a six-part miniseries.

But back to Sharon Stone, a single mother of three boys, Oscar-nominated actress (for Casino in 1995), and baby boomer. Her hiatus from film-making came in after she suffered a severe brain hemorrhage in 2001. She was given a 5% chance to survive. She had to re-learn to walk and talk. For a long time, she had trouble hearing, reading, and writing. She explained in an interview on CBS Sunday Morning that she stayed out of the public arena during this time because the film industry is an “unforgiving environment.”

During this time of rehabilitation, Sharon Stone was not forgotten. In 2011 (at the age of 53), she was ranked #11 on Men's Health 100 Hottest Women of All Time.

Now that Sharon Stone is back to business, she has a lot of projects in the works. She recently completed work on the film What About Love, where she stars with Andy Garcia and Game of Thrones star Iain Glenn. She teamed up with Meryl Streep in a film from director Martin Scorsese that is in post-production.  And she is set to star in a comedy with Bette Midler, in a movie called “The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife."  Sounds like she's keeping plenty busy, with plenty of big name stars, too.

She’s also fully engaged in raising her three sons who are 11, 12, and 17.

The director of Mosaic, Steven Soderbergh, has been quoted as saying he developed the project with Sharon Stone in mind. "Sharon understood that there are not a lot of actors who have the kind of iconic baggage she has. This is a character who needed to be believable as someone who could have an entire town wrapped around her finger. Sharon has that kind of energy and power."

Watch for Soderbergh’s next technology adventure: Unsane – a horror film shot entirely on an iPhone. By the way, he’s a baby boomer, too (born 1963).
