I have suffered from bad knees and back. The problem is mainly that I sit too much writing at my computer. I get involved and then don't get up and move around.

Last year, I started barefoot running.  The idea is that when you run barefoot, your foot hits the ground differently than when you run with shoes.  When barefoot, you tend to hit the ground either flat footed or slightly on the balls of the feet.  This causes the knee to bend and not be hit with a ton of shock like when your heel hits first.

I don't man this to be sage medical advice, but it has helped my knees tremendously! Sure, it takes a little time for the feet to toughen up, but they do.I told my sister about this and, although she doesn't run barefoot, she runs in place in her home and stays up on the balls of her feet. It is helping her knees as well.
