Most baby boomers prefer to work beyond retirement years. I also prefer to work or get a hobby that makes my life worth going, instead of just sitting in a chair and wait for my grand children to arrive.

Retirement is the nightmare of many baby boomers, and paying for it kills them entirely. Most baby boomers are also worried on their future care and financial experts recommend them to get long term care plans as soon as possible because they can rarely receive care from their loved ones and friends.

I should have worked until I was 65 but I was able to draw my state pension at 60. Because I could no longer do the job I was doing due to ill health I decided to retire. My company pension was paid up to 65 but I retired at 60. I still don't have much pension from the company though as I hadn't worked there long enough to make much of a difference so I am living on a pittance.

I sometimes think of getting another job a lighter one, but I don't have the stamina I used to have and I also care for my grandchildren to help out my son and his wife. So I am learning to be frugal and enjoying home life and taking up crafts I had not had time for before when I was working.

I think my self lucky though, I have a nice little flat, warmth, food, clothing and a little car which I use sparingly now the petrol is so dear. I have my free bus pass and I take advantage of all the other consentions available to me. there are so many around he world much worse off, I just thank God I am comfortable.

Surveys show that most boomers have no plans to retire at the "traditional" age of 65. We with expect to stay at our current job or business, or like many – leave our current job for other work. Instead of being the end of work, the traditional retirement age marks an expected new beginning for a 2nd career or lifestyle.

How do you see this? Many of us cannot afford to retire, and this is reality. Others just want to work at some time of job for personal gratification or realizing some dreams.
