Need Help Finding an Old Baby Boomer Article

Boomer Support

Sometime in the mid-80′s I came across an essay describing boomer angst due to the fact that “we were the generation that was always supposed to be young,” and we were starting to not be so young any more. I think it was probably triggered by the fact that the boomers were about to start turning 40 (which, of course, seems impossibly young nowadays) and were being shoved out of the limelight by those upstart GenXers.

I think it was in Newsweek, but it could have been one of the other news magazines. And I think it was on the last page of the magazine. I’ve looked for it online (recently) and in real life (years ago) and have never been able to find it. Can anyone point me to the right article?

Maybe one of the two articles below. Also, I found a quote almost identical to yours in a Newsweek Essay called “Generalizations X”, that read “No one was ever supposed to be younger than we are.

    1992- The New Middle Age
“Month by month, individually and collectively, the generation that refused to grow up is growing middle aged”

    1993- The Whiny Generation
“As a baby boomer, I’m fed up with the ceaseless carping of a handful of spoiled, self-indulgent, overgrown adolescents. Generation Xers may like to call themselves the “Why Me?” generation, but they should be called the “Whiny” generation”

LOL, Those Genxers don’t know the half. They load themselves with chemicals to stay young as we are. I feel as good and have the vigor of a 45 year old man. I remembered 45 and have returned to feeling that way again. No chemicals, no medication..I work on killing the free radicals that cause aging and the products I take are working fine for me and my wife. She works out for two hours everyday. Those Genxers are the ones who are killing their bodies with chemicals. Hey Admin, keep up the good work!
