You're sitting in a traffic jam, barely moving. To make it worse, every single radio station seems to be on commercial, causing you to switch back and forth a million times. If only there were commercial-free radio stations. Wait a second, there are! They're just not free. But they can be. As the name suggests, satellite radio is a radio service that uses satellites circling the earth to broadcast its programming. To listen in your car, you do need a special receiver, but about 60% of new cars come equipped with Sirius XM these days. The automotive industry has been a driving force behind satellite radio and for a time, was the only way to access it. Now access is easy, thanks to portable receiver units, which can be taken in to your home, your office, etc. You can also stream satellite radio from your phone, tablet or computer.
