Here it is! You told us the songs that made all those summer memories come rushing right back.
Where were you when these songs serenaded your summers in the 60s, 70s or early 80s? Were you on a beach towel with somebody’s boombox blaring? Slow dancing in a friend’s basement? Cruising the streets of your hometown with the windows wide open or the top down? At the drive-in movie or on the boardwalk? Falling in love? Breaking up? As Martha Vandellas sang, “Summer’s here and the time is right for dancing in the streets. All we need is music, sweet music…”
We have to mention the Beach Boys on top. As many of you said “anything by the Beach Boys” – especially California Girls, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, and Surfin’ USA. Even people who’d never been to California could feel the Good Vibrations.
From California to Motor City and the Temptations, the Four Tops, the Supremes. And across the ocean to the Beatles and the other British rockers. And back again to the disco music of the Bee Gees and Donna Summer. And the upper end baby boomers will remember falling in love to the music of Johnny Mathis with anyone who happened to be in the room. So let’s get started with…
