Boomer Buyer Guides - A Great New Resource For Savvy Shoppers

My wife Alice and I are both Baby Boomers. I was born in the late ’50s and she was born in the early ’60s. We recently joined the ranks of the semi-retired and although we did relatively well for ourselves in our working years, me as an internet entrepreneur and Alice as a therapist and life coach, we have become keenly aware that our hard-earned savings is something we need to protect, invest and spend wisely.

Alice and I both grew up in families that were entrepreneurial. Starting businesses is in our blood. So, after taking a few years off to enjoy the freedom we found after selling our business, it was natural that we would look for something new we could work on together.

We decided to look for ways to help people who were in the same boat as we are. So, we started developing websites to serve seniors. Our first one was HousingForSeniors.com which as the name implies, helps people find housing that caters to the needs of aging adults.

Late last year (2019) we decided to try something new.

Both Alice and I enjoy buying things. Things we need and sometimes things we don’t need. Things for ourselves and things for family and friends. We have fun shopping and we love finding new and interesting products and services.

It’s not unusual for me to spend too many hours sifting through product reviews, comparing prices, and generally over-thinking everything before I commit to any purchase – especially if it’s an expensive one.

I can’t tell you how many rabbit holes I’ve fallen into and how much time I’ve wasted while doing my research. I have to admit that it can be kind of fun for me – sometimes. I also have to admit that I’ve made more than my share of bad buying decisions.

Over the past 7 years, we’ve become much wiser about spending money and saving money than we ever were before.

So, we started BoomerBuyerGuides.com where we are posting reviews on products and services that boomers buy. But we’re not only publishing reviews, we’re also developing a variety of content that we hope Boomers will find informative and fun. Alice is writing articles based on her 25+ years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Life Coach. So, in addition to shopping help, visitors to the site will find articles addressing everything from improving relationships and communication to dealing with mental health issues that Boomers face.

If you’re reading this article before June 16th, 2020 we want to invite you to visit Boomer Buyer Guides because we’re giving away one of our favorite health and fitness smartwatches, the Fitbit Versa 2.

We love this smartwatch because it does all the stuff most other smartwatches do like monitoring your heart rate and counting your steps, but on top of that, it does some really unusual and helpful things. For example, if the watch senses that you’re getting stressed, it will offer you calming breathing exercises. That’s pretty cool, right?

Even if you miss this giveaway, you should head over anyway because we plan to make giveaways a monthly happening.

Boomer Buyer Guides won’t save you from every bad spending mistake you’ll ever make but we’re going to try! Each week, we’ll be adding reviews on everything from mattresses to money managers, and cruise lines to credit cards. We’ll tell you about the best places to live, where and when it’s safe to travel, and anything else you’d like to learn more about (just let us know and we’ll dig into it for you).
