Pregnancy is a magical time for a new mother to be. A time where they are radiant. Growing another life inside them. Though despite its positives, this can be a tasking time for new mothers. They can lack energy, they are constantly caring for two lives at once. Plus their body is changing rapidly.

For this reason, it’s important to make this time as easy and fun for them as possible. To fill this time with unique moments and memories that they can cherish. One way that you can do this is through having a baby shower. This is a party to celebrate the upcoming arrival of a new family member. So if you are in charge of this event, it can be a daunting task. Though fear not, we are here to help. Here are some brilliant games and activities for baby showers that will make the event one to cherish.

1. Gender Reveals

Although this is often done as its own event, many do like to incorporate this into the baby shower. This is where one person organising the event will think of a fun and elaborate way to reveal the gender of the baby. The parents will be unaware up until the reveal and this often leads to amazing and surprised reactions.

Popular options to reveal the gender include releasing coloured balloons or smoke bombs. Others enjoy using coloured confetti and a piñata. Or if you’re having the shower at night, a beautiful option is through fireworks. Whatever the method, the surprise of the occasion is an excellent addition to the baby shower itinerary.

2. Sperm Cornhole

This is a reimagining of a camp game you may have heard of - Cornhole. The premise is simple. Players will have an object to throw from a distance. With the goal being to get it through a small hole in the middle of a plank of wood. It sounds like there isn’t much to it. Though through its simple and low entry level difficulty. Anyone can pick up and play. Plus it can get pretty competitive.

The way this differs from a normal Cornhole board is the decoration. The corn bean bags that are usually thrown will be transformed into little sperm. Whilst the wooden plank will be presented as the egg waiting for fertilization. It’s a fun and thematic game that can keep the party lively for hours.

3. Guess The Baby

This is a fun and often hysterical game involving the mother to be and all her pals. Everyone will be tasked with bringing along one baby picture from their childhood. Then all these pictures will be placed on the wall or in some sort of collage. The game is to guess whose picture is whose.

This can be done as a group or can be done with the mother to be guessing on her own. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get to know each other on a more intimate level. Plus offers a cute and funny game for everyone to enjoy on the special day.

4. Nipple Bobbing

I’m sure you’ve heard of bobbing for apples at Halloween. Well, this sings from the same hymn sheet. Though instead of apples, you’ll be bobbing for baby bottle nipples. Just in case you aren’t aware, here’s how you play.

Just fill a basin with water and then place a number of baby bottle lids on the surface. Then players will take turns to Bob their head in the water without using their hands. With those that remove a lid from the water with their mouth winning a prize. It’s a great twist on a holiday tradition that’s perfect for any baby shower.

5. Baby Pageant

This is an excellent game that will test the creativity of all the guests. Players should be split into teams and asked to pick a baby. Then once chosen, players will have to use the apparatus provided to create a designer diaper ensemble for their baby.

This does require a bit of organisation to gather all the necessary arts and crafts equipment. Plus a prize for the winner too. So be sure to stock up on toilet roll and glitter. Then once dressed, the baby’s will catwalk their outfits and the appointed neutral judges can pick a winner. Not everyone is in favour of child pageants but everyone will love this new take on the event.

6. Baby Bucket List

This is a fun activity for both the mother and any other parents with young children. The parents will sit down together and will share some hopes and dreams for their baby. This can be things that will happen during the pregnancy or throughout their lifetime as mother and child.

These hopes may be for the child to become rich and famous. Or perhaps simply to be born healthy and happy. The possibilities are endless and can offer a quality period of bonding with other parents. Plus it allows the mother to bond with their child on the way.

7. Hold Your Water

This one is a little bit active so check if the mummy to be is up for this. However, if she gives the okay then prepare for a fun time. This one works sort of similar to the sports day staple, the egg and spoon race. However it’s not an egg, it’s a water balloon. Plus it’s not on a spoon, it’s in between your legs.

The aim of the game is to keep the balloon between your legs as you waddle to the finish line. Drop it and you start again. Burst it and you’re out of the race. Winner gets all the glory. This is a great way to get everyone on their feet and having a great time.

8. Guess The Baby Food

Ever wondered what a baby’s food palette was like? Well you needn’t wait much longer. Guess the baby food is the perfect party game for a baby shower. This will require some prep though so get stocked up on some puree fruit and vegetables before you begin.

Either as individuals or in teams. It’s up to you to guess exactly what it is you’re eating. Baby food is usually varied colours of mush. So you’ll have to rely on your taste buds to work out the ingredients. This can be really fun, quite challenging. Plus you get to snack while you play. What’s not to like?
