Here She Goes Again

It seems as Cher has been in the news a lot lately. Maybe because she was recently recognized by the Kennedy Center for her lifetime contributions to American culture. Or maybe it's because the star, often referred to as the 'Goddess of Pop,' will be heading out on her first tour in five years later this month. With a career that has spanned over 50 years and across six decades, the tour is quite fittingly called "Here We Go Again." And she is promising it will be her last tour.

Born in 1946, the baby boomer has had quite the impressive career, with a Grammy, an Emmy, an Oscar and three Golden Globes under her belt. She is the only musician to have had a No.1 song on the Billboard chart for six decades in a row and is one of the best-selling artists of all time with over 100 million records sold.

For the level of success and fame she has achieved, mainly because of her voice, it may come as a surprise that she actually doesn't like her contralto pipes (vocal range with the lowest female voice type) all that much. She recently told CBS News that it's "not her favorite thing." Lucky for her, the masses seem not to agree.

At 72 years old, Cher admits she doesn't feel her age and often wonders what 72 should feel like. This is a sentiment many of us would agree with. She keeps on going, even when things get tough, even when she thinks people don't take her seriously. She told CBS News about her career, "It's had ... huge ups and downs. I went from, you know, Academy Award to an infomercial," she said. "But I just kept going." And look where it got her.

If you're a huge Cher fan, this will be your last chance to see the incredible talent on tour.
