Every now and then, we find a product or service so outstanding that we literally have to share it with our readers. We don't recommend products often, but when we do, we mean it. The outstanding product in question is the Expandable International Carry-On by Duravo.

Luggage isn't something we usually get excited about, but this carry-on is something else. It managed to be the most durable piece of luggage I have ever owned and also the lightest I have ever used. When I think about tough, durable luggage, I assume it will be heavy and clunky, but this piece weighs just 5 pounds and glides through the airport. What really separated this carry-on from my previous one, though, was all of the features. It had built-in USB access, so I could conveniently charge my phone without opening the suitcase. I didn't use it yet, but a very sturdy TSA-approved lock will come in handy for international travel or checking bags. And my favorite feature of all, one I've never seen, was the surprisingly comfortable handle that adjusts to three levels- perfect for a tall traveler like me.

According to their website, the composite material Duravo uses for their luggage is 5X the strength of traditional plastics, which I firmly believe. Here is some technical jargon from their site about the material: "Flexshell is a new, patent-pending composite material manufactured in Germany that uses a combination of high-strength, molecularly oriented thermoplastic fibers and eco-friendly polymers. As a result, the material is highly impact resistant, and resists cracking or permanently deforming under high force and extreme temperatures. When used in bullet-proof vests, the material stops bones from breaking and organs being bruised. In travel, the strong-yet-thin material provides 2 to 5 pounds of weight savings over carry-on luggage made with current materials."

If it's good enough for bullet-proof vests, it's good enough for my clothes and, more importantly, my laptop. And as a greenie (environmentalist), I was also happy to read on their website that this material is made with an environmentally clean thermoplastic process that involves no solvents, VOCs (volatile organic compounds), plasticizers, BPAs, or halogenated compounds and is fully recyclable in common polymer recycling processes.
